A Word from the President of Resident Executive Board
Dear Resident Members,
It is my privilege to serve as the inaugural President of the newly formed Resident Advisory Board of the Rhode Island Society of Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons (RISOPS). As we launch this exciting new chapter, I’m proud to be part of a growing movement to elevate student voices and strengthen the presence of osteopathic medical students across Rhode Island.
This is a pivotal moment. With the creation of our Student Advisory Board and student member platform, RISOPS is opening new pathways for student involvement, leadership, and collaboration. Our mission is to build a supportive, inclusive space where students can connect with mentors, gain early access to professional development opportunities, and help shape the future of osteopathic medicine in our state.
We’re kicking things off at NEROC: The Northeast Regional Osteopathic Conference, where student engagement will be front and center. Join us for Student Day @ NEROC: Learn. Connect. Launch. on Saturday, September 20 in East Greenwich, RI. This special event is designed just for students, offering hands-on learning, leadership development, networking with physicians and residents, and a spotlight on research.
I encourage you to take part in this foundational moment—whether by attending Student Day, applying for future leadership roles, submitting research, or simply sharing your ideas with us. This is your chance to help build something meaningful from the ground up.

- Who is eligible to join? All osteopathic residents in Masachusetts are encouraged to participate.
- Does membership cost anything? Membership is free at this time.
- How can I apply for the Resident Executive Board? Applications open on November 1 and the board takes effect on January 1. Positions are available to residents interested in leadership.
- Do I have to be actively involved, or can I just be a member? You can engage at your own pace—attend events, apply for leadership, or simply enjoy the benefits.
